Fetal Treatment Program of New England

Our hospitals are affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University — a distinction that allows us to provide patients, mothers, and families with the world-class care found only in an academic medical center.

Our program combines the expertise of hundreds of specialists to offer the full spectrum of fetal and maternal care in a seamless experience.

Top-Notch Care

Welcome to the Fetal Treatment Program of New England, home to expert fetal and maternal care. The longtime partnership between Hasbro Children's Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital provides the support and resources your baby needs.

The Fetal Treatment Program of New England is a collaboration of Hasbro Children's Hospital (the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital) and Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, two of the region's leaders in pediatric care.

We specialize in the diagnosis of fetal anomalies, including spina bifida, and the management and treatment of the unborn child.

Of the almost 10,000 pregnant women who are followed at Women & Infants Hospital each year, our program guides more than 150 with complex fetal anomalies through their individual care needs. We help coordinate appointments and tests and provide additional resources that families might need, such as support groups or information on local lodging.

First of Its Kind Fetal Surgery

A multidisciplinary team at Hasbro Children’s Hospital performed a delicate two-hour spina bifida surgery, the first of its kind in the region, on both a fetus and his mother.
